Compare pack prices after converting quantities to the same unit. Include delivery and the amount you can actually use before choosing a larger pack.

Compare like-for-like quantities
Convert every offer to kg, litre or one counted item first. A 500 g pack contains 0.5 kg; a 750 ml bottle contains 0.75 litre. Keep product grade, concentration and quality comparable. A lower price per litre is not necessarily better value for a concentrated product.
Worksheet: Unit price = item price ÷ quantity in the comparison unit.
Example: compare like-for-like quantities
A 500 g pack priced at PKR 180 costs PKR 360/kg. A 1 kg pack at PKR 340 costs PKR 340/kg before any delivery charge.
Account for usable quantity and delivery
Compare the cost of the order you will actually buy. Allocate a shared delivery fee once across the basket, rather than adding the full fee to every product. If you expect some of a pack to remain unused, record that separately.
Worksheet: Effective cost per usable unit = total allocated purchase cost ÷ usable quantity.
Example: account for usable quantity and delivery
If a PKR 340 pack provides only 0.8 kg you expect to use, its effective goods cost is PKR 425 per usable kg. This is a purchasing scenario, not a food-safety estimate.
Prepare your inputs before comparing results
- Choose one task and one planning period.
- Record the measurement units and the source and date of each quotation.
- Separate quantities used, quantities purchased and any remainder.
- List costs included in the estimate and costs excluded from it.
- Recheck the result when quantities, prices or circumstances change.
