Assumptions and How This Is Calculated
Planned use = people times daily use times days. Subtract stock, keeping at least zero. Whole packs and increments round upward; loose purchases use the exact shortage. List and waste tasks use known quantities.
Compatible units and currency changes retain exact values. Displayed money rounds half-up to two decimals. Waste is within goods cost; delivery is added once in plan/budget tasks.
Limits: 1 to 100 people, 0 to 366 days, 50 items, 1,000,000 base units per quantity, daily use 100 per person, money equivalent to PKR 1 trillion. See the guide for formulas and limitations.

Ghee Calculator: Purchase Quantities, Stock and Cost Guide
Plan purchases from measured use, usable stock, a buying rule and your own quotation. The fictional monthly example totals PKR Rs 6,100.00 including one delivery charge. Replace its inputs with yours.
Choose a Ghee Planning Task
Estimate how much ghee to buy for your household, how many tins to order and what the order will cost. Use the net weight printed on the tin and your own shop price.
Choose quantity planning for people and days, purchase costing for a known quantity, stock duration for supply days, whole packs for package counts, or waste valuation for a separate cost scenario. Use the family ration basket calculator for several grocery categories in one order.
Keep the Purchase Basis Consistent
A half-kilogram tin contains 500 g of product. Weigh the contents of an open tin or subtract the weight of an empty matching tin. Enter each product at its own price if your list includes dairy ghee and a vegetable-fat product.
Measure Household Ghee Use
Weigh a tin at the start and end of a representative week. If you opened another tin during the week, add its net weight to the starting stock. Subtract ending stock, then divide by days and people.
Enter planning days separately and recount the stock you judge usable.
Choose Units and Price Basis
Choose kg for a price per kilogram or g for a price per gram. For a tin marked only in millilitres, weigh the contents before entering a mass. A litre measures volume and cannot supply a net weight by itself.
Selected Unit pricing means the price of one current unit. Whole Pack pricing means the entire price of the entered pack quantity. Set that quantity before entering its price. Changing pack size leaves a whole-pack quote for you to review.
The NIST conversion tables support the exact kg/g relationship. No density, average item weight or preparation factor is applied.
Ghee Quantity, Cost and Stock Formulas
- Planned use: people × daily use per person × days.
- Shortage: max(planned use − usable stock, 0).
- Whole packs: round up(shortage ÷ quantity per pack).
- Purchase: packs × pack quantity, or loose shortage.
- Goods cost: purchased quantity × matching unit price, or packs × pack price.
- Order total: goods subtotal + delivery once.
- Stock cover: existing stock ÷ household daily use.
- Waste value: goods cost × waste percentage ÷ 100.
Zero daily use has no finite depletion date. Waste is within goods cost, not another charge. The waste task values a known purchase and excludes delivery.
Worked Monthly Ghee Example
Four people using 25 g each per day use 3 kg in 30 days. With 400 g left, the shopping list needs 2.6 kg. Six 500 g tins supply 3 kg and leave 400 g for later. At a fictional PKR 2,000/kg, goods cost PKR 6,000. One PKR 100 delivery brings the total to PKR 6,100.
A five-percent waste scenario values PKR Rs 300.00 within goods cost. It neither orders replacements nor changes the total.
Understand Buying Rules and Surplus
Packs and increments round upward to the entered size. Loose mass keeps the shortage. Surplus is purchased quantity minus shortage, not an extra fee. Compare actual quotations when different packages have different unit prices.
Weekly Orders and Existing Stock
Two people using 25 g each for seven days need 350 g. Subtract 100 g in stock and one 500 g tin covers the 250 g shortage. At the example price the weekly purchase costs PKR 1,000 with no delivery charge.
With 1 kg on hand and four people using 25 g each daily, stock covers ten days at the entered rate.
Recalculate separate orders when stock, prices, packs or delivery differ. Delivery applies once to the entered order, not automatically to every trip in a month.
Prices, Currency and Report Precision
Worked explanations quote the original fictional prices in PKR. Highlighted amounts and chart labels follow your selected currency. No official rate or shop quotation is fetched. PKR is the default, then INR, USD, GBP, EUR, SAR and AUD. Conversion uses the saved indicative reference dated 4 November 2026, not live prices, bank quotes or local purchasing power.
Choose the currency and enter the actual local quotation for your purchase. Monetary inputs, delivery, budgets and results convert together with exact internal fractions. Final money rounds half-up to two decimals.
Copy and print preserve precise unit prices, including exact fractions where needed. CSV records units, pack size, rule, price basis, currency and waste percentage. Quantities display up to nine decimals; stock cover to three. Internal arithmetic remains exact.
Input Limits and Important Boundaries
Enter one to one hundred people, zero to 366 planning days and up to fifty rows. Quantity inputs are bounded at one million kg; daily use at one hundred base units per person and money at equivalent PKR one trillion. These are input-validation limits, not dietary recommendations or caps on computed totals.
Blank required fields, negative quantities, zero required pack sizes and waste above one hundred percent are rejected. Zero price means free goods. Use the net weight on the label for a sealed pack.
Stock cover does not assess handling, temperature, freshness, ripeness, expiry or safety. Do not treat arithmetic supply days as a safe-storage period. Prepared yields, nutrition, recipe servings, medical advice and government eligibility are outside scope.
Save or Share Your Plan
Use Copy Summary, Print, CSV or Copy Link after a valid result. Invalid required inputs block stale exports. Shared links encode entered values; anyone with the link can read them. Omit personal details from item labels.
Calculations run in your browser. Session storage remembers only currency, not the list. Save a report or link to retain inputs. Local-file links need the same calculator file.
Ghee Purchase Planning FAQs
How Do I Enter a Price for a 500 g Tin?
Select g, set the pack quantity to 500, choose Whole Pack and enter the price of one tin. In kg use 0.5 as the pack quantity.
Can I Use a One-Litre Pack?
Use its labelled net mass or weigh the contents. Volume alone does not give the mass of your product.
How Much Ghee Should I Enter for a Family?
Use your household’s measured consumption. Divide total grams used by the people and days in your observation period.
Does the Calculator Estimate How Much Ghee Butter Will Yield?
It starts with purchased ghee. For homemade ghee, weigh the finished product before adding it to stock.
Can I Compare Different Brands or Tin Sizes?
Use the same required weight in separate scenarios, changing the pack size and shop price together. Compare total cost as well as surplus.
How Do I Plan Two Deliveries in a Month?
Calculate each order with its own opening stock and delivery charge. Add the two order totals for the monthly budget.
