Assumptions and How This Is Calculated

Planned use = people times daily use times days. Subtract stock, keeping at least zero. Whole packs and increments round upward; loose tea retains the exact shortage. List and waste tasks use known quantities.

Compatible units and currency changes retain exact values. Displayed money rounds half-up to two decimals. Waste is within goods cost; delivery is added once in plan/budget tasks.

Limits: 1 to 100 people, 0 to 366 days, 50 items, 1,000,000 base units per quantity, daily use 100 per person, money equivalent to PKR 1 trillion. See the guide for formulas and limitations.

Tea Ration Calculator Guide: Dry Quantity, Packets and Cost

Plan dry tea purchases from measured use, usable stock and a current shop quotation. The fictional monthly example buys 300 g in three packets for PKR Rs 650.00 including delivery. Replace its inputs with your own measurements.

Choose the Right Dry-Tea Planning Task

This tea ration calculator plans the mass and purchase cost of dry tea. Choose Plan Quantity for household use over a period, Purchase Cost for an amount you already intend to buy, Stock Duration for the days your current supply covers, Whole Packs for packet counts, or Waste Value for a separate cost scenario.

It does not calculate brewed cups, water, milk, sugar, steeping time or caffeine. A tea-bag count is not automatically converted to grams: use the net dry-tea mass stated on that specific product. Keep tea, milk and sugar as separate groceries in a mixed basket.

Measure Dry Tea in Grams or Kilograms

Weigh the dry tea used over a representative number of days. To obtain a per-person daily input, divide the measured household mass by both the people count and the number of measured days. Record visitors or changes in use separately rather than assuming that everyone drinks the same amount.

One kilogram equals 1,000 grams. Enter 3 in g or 0.003 in kg for the same mass. Switching compatible units converts quantities and unit-based prices consistently. Stock and packet mass must refer to the same dry product. Weigh loose tea without the container; for a sealed packet, use its labelled net mass.

The example uses 3 g per person per day only to demonstrate arithmetic. It is not a suggested intake or a brewing instruction.

Measure a Daily Tea InputFictional measurement: 84 g used by four people over seven days. 84 divided by 7 is 12 g per household daily; 12 divided by 4 is 3 g per person daily.Turn Measured Use into a Daily Input84 g7-day total84 g ÷ 7 days= 12 g/day12 g ÷ 4 people= 3 g/person/day
Fictional measurement: 84 g over seven days for four people gives 3 g per person per day. This is not an intake recommendation.

Tea Quantity, Stock and Cost Formulas

  • Planned use: people × daily tea per person × days.
  • Shortage: max(planned use − usable stock, 0).
  • Whole packets: round up(shortage ÷ packet mass).
  • Purchased mass: packets × packet mass; exact loose buying uses the shortage.
  • Goods cost: purchased mass × unit price, or packets × packet price.
  • Order total: goods subtotal + delivery once (planning and purchase-cost tasks).
  • Stock cover: usable stock ÷ household daily use.
  • Waste value: goods cost × waste percentage ÷ 100; already included in goods cost.

Packet mass must be positive. Buying increments round the shortage up to the selected increment. A zero daily use has no finite depletion date.

Rounding surplus is purchased mass minus shortage. It is not additional consumption or another charge.

Worked Monthly Tea Purchase Example

Four people using an illustrative 3 g each daily for thirty days need 360 g of dry tea. With 60 g already available, the shortage is 300 g. Three 100 g packets meet it exactly. A different shortage can require an extra packet and leave a surplus.

Subtract usable dry tea stockPlanned dry tea: 360 g; Stock already available: 60 g; Shortage to buy: 300 gSubtract usable dry tea stockPlanned dry tea360 gStock already available60 gShortage to buy300 g
360 g planned use minus 60 g usable stock leaves a 300 g shortage.

At a fictional PKR 2,000/kg, the 0.3 kg purchase costs PKR 600. Add one PKR 50 delivery charge for a total of PKR Rs 650.00. A five-percent waste scenario values PKR 30 of those goods; it does not change the order total or order replacement tea.

Enter a Packet Price with the Correct Basis

To use a quoted 100 g packet price, choose g, enter 100 as Quantity / Pack, choose Whole Pack for the price basis and enter that packet’s price. To use a per-kilogram quotation, choose kg and Selected Unit pricing. Do not enter a packet price while leaving a per-gram basis selected.

Compare Packet Rounding with Loose TeaFor a 320 g shortage, four 100 g packets give 400 g and 80 g surplus. Exact loose buying gives 320 g and no rounding surplus.Whole Packets or Exact Loose Tea?Example shortage: 320 gWhole PacketsExact LooseBuy 400 g80 g surplusBuy 320 gNo surplus
Separate rounding example: a 320 g shortage needs four 100 g packets, leaving 80 g surplus. Exact loose buying uses 320 g.

For example, PKR 200 for a 100 g packet is PKR 2/g or PKR 2,000/kg. A 250 g packet has its own price; the calculator does not assume that a larger pack has the same unit price. Changing pack size under per-pack pricing leaves the quoted pack price for you to review.

Weekly Orders and Existing Tea Stock

The weekly example uses two people, seven days and the same fictional 3 g daily mass. Planned use is 42 g. Subtracting 10 g stock leaves 32 g; whole 100 g packets require one packet and leave 68 g surplus. With no delivery, the example goods cost is PKR 200. Exact loose buying would cost PKR 64 at the same unit price.

The existing-stock example has 120 g usable tea and household use of 12 g daily, giving ten arithmetic days. This is a depletion estimate at the entered use rate, not a guarantee of freshness or storage life.

Do not multiply a rounded monthly packet count to estimate a weekly order. Each order’s stock, delivery and rounding need their own calculation. Separate consumption between different tea types so the full household demand is not counted twice.

Fictional cost breakdown. Monetary labels follow your selected currency; quantities stay fixed. Components may round independently.

PKR is selected for a first-time visitor. The other supported currencies are INR, USD, GBP, EUR, SAR and AUD, in that order. Changing currency converts monetary inputs, applicable examples, calculations and report displays using the saved reference dated 4 November 2026. This is an indicative reference, not a live tea price or bank/payment quote. Enter a current local quotation for a buying decision.

The engine keeps exact decimal and reference-rate values internally. Final monetary totals round half-up to two decimals. Small per-gram unit prices retain additional precision in copied and printed reports; CSV records the unit, pack and pricing basis so the calculation can be checked.

Copy Summary, CSV and Print use the current valid result. An invalid input prevents export of a stale total. Delivery is allocated to the order rather than added independently to every tea type. A spending limit is an optional comparison, not an affordability judgment.

Tea Calculator Limits and Input Checks

Only dry mass in kg and g is supported. Cups, teaspoons, tea-bag counts, brewed-chai volume and instant-drink servings are not assigned fixed mass conversions. Use a scale or a specific product label. This tool does not recommend nutrition, caffeine intake, food storage, medical use or government entitlements.

Enter a decimal point for fractions. Negative values, missing required prices and zero packet sizes are rejected. A zero price is valid for free goods. The people count is a whole number from one to one hundred; the planning period can be zero to 366 days, with up to three decimal places. There are at most fifty item rows. Other quantity and money bounds are stated in the tool. A zero-day plan requires no new consumption; existing stock is not a purchase.

Stock Duration and Whole Packs do not require a price when no monetary answer is needed. Select a task that matches the question before filling every optional field.

Save or Share a Tea Plan Carefully

Calculations run in the browser. Session storage remembers only your selected currency when available; it does not automatically retain the basket. Copy a report, download CSV or save a shared link to retain your inputs. A local-file shared link requires the same calculator file.

A shared link encodes the entered values. Anyone with it can read them, so omit names, addresses and personal information from row labels. Recheck quantities and units after importing someone else’s plan. Prices and stock can change after a report is saved.

Dry Tea Purchase and Stock FAQs

Does This Calculate Cups of Chai?

No. It plans purchased dry-tea mass. Brewing requires your own tested recipe and cup size; milk, water and sugar are separate inputs.

Can I Use Tea-Bag Counts?

Use the product’s labelled net dry-tea mass in g or kg. This calculator does not assume that every tea bag contains the same amount.

Can I Use a 100 g Packet Price?

Yes. Choose g, set Quantity / Pack to 100, choose Whole Pack pricing and enter that packet’s price.

Is 3 g a Recommended Daily Intake?

No. It is a fictional arithmetic input. Measure actual household dry-tea use; the calculator does not assess intake, caffeine or health.

Does a Stock-Cover Result Prove Freshness?

No. It divides usable stock by entered daily use. Freshness, moisture, packaging and storage conditions are outside this calculation.

Does the Tool Fetch Today’s Tea Price?

No. Enter a current receipt or quotation. Currency conversion uses a dated indicative reference and does not update local product prices.
